Ian Maatsen move made by Manchester United

Manchester United have been targeting players in multiple positions throughout this summer’s transfer window, in the aim of improving their squad.

Michael Carrick, alongside the recruitment team and those higher up in the club, have acted upon that strategy to help the squad become better.

Three primary midfield signings have been made, through Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Carlos Baleba.

The middle of the park does not appear to be the club’s focus currently, however, with both the left-back and striker positions under consideration currently.

Whilst The Red Devils have faces difficulty in this summer’s window in recruiting a left-back, the side are not giving up yet.

Reporting on the Sky Sports website, journalists Patrick Rowe, Dharmesh Sheth, Dan Khan, Rob Dorsett, and Lyall Thomas have reported on Manchester United’s interest in Aston Villa’s Ian Maatsen.

Revealing the latest on the club’s interest, the journalists have stated that United have made an enquiry about the left-back’s availability.

Villa have hit straight back at this, however, according to the journalists, stating that he is not for sale whilst also preparing to present new contract terms to the 24-year-old.

Ian Maatsen, entering his third season at the Midlands club, started the side’s opening Premier League match of the campaign against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Playing a crucial role in Villa’s Europa League victory last season, playing eleven matches, the left-back has become an essential part of Unai Emery’s side, a part he is not willing to give up easily.

With Manchester United pushed back once again, the club have been forced to the drawing board. Limited time remains for inspiration to come from that deliberation, however, with pressure now at an all-time high for the club to make a signing happen in the left-back position.
