Tottenham fans had finally started thinking that the club was heading in an upwards trajectory after the Lilywhites looked to secure a deal for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze. The North London club were on the verge of landing the England international after agreeing personal terms with the player. And the deal was also imminent after Daniel Levy held direct talks with Palace chairman Steve Parish for a permanent transfer.
However, tragedy struck at the eleventh hour for the Lilywhites as Arsenal came into the mix. The Gunners managed to successfully hijack the deal to land Eze in just a matter of hours following Kai Havertz’s injury. And the player also gave his green light to proceed with the move despite agreeing personal terms with Spurs.
A similar situation has happened not once, but twice under Daniel Levy in the same transfer window. And there are some concerns amongst the fanbase that the Spurs chairman is not the right man to negotiate transfers going forward. The Lilywhites have been below par in the transfer window after failing to secure their top targets on more than one occasion.
Fabio Paratici is currently in a consulting role at Tottenham till the end of the transfer window. The Italian was handed a 30-month ban from football-related activities due to financial irregularities in 2023 while he was still the Managing Director for the Lilywhites. He was then remov ed from the job until his ban got uplifted earlier this year.
Now, John Wenham has urged Spurs to hire Fabio Paratici in an official capacity once again and let him handle the transfers. Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said,
“I’m delighted Paratici’s come back. And when you look at our better signings over the last couple of years, these have all been heavily influenced by Paratici and his network of contacts, ability to speak with agents and get good deals for Tottenham. So hopefully we can see some more of that soon as well.”
John Wenham cannot hide his excitement after seeing Fabio Paratici back in the mix at N17 following his ban. The Lilywhite Rose owner believes that the Italian has been a key factor in all the signings that Spurs have made in the last two years. Wenham also adds that Paratici has a solid network and can land some quality players at N17 once he gets appointed by the North London club in an official capacity.
Fabio Paratici was a key factor in signing players like Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski, and Destiny Udogie a few years back. All these players have lived up to expectations at N17 in one way or the other, and they also played a huge role in helping Spurs win the Europa League. Some credit must go to Paratici for leading the way and striking a deal to sign quality players for Tottenham in recent years.
