INEOS officially sell forward after one season

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS continue to shape their football operations this summer.

Another attacking player is now heading for the exit after spending just a single season at the club.

Manchester United supporters could easily assume the latest departure concerns one of the club’s high-profile arrivals from last summer.

Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko all joined the Red Devils ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with each marking a significant contribution.

They all did fairly well in their debut campaign.

Sesko and Mbeumo both scored 12 goals for United last season, while Cunha contributed 10.

The Cameroon international also enjoyed an impressive start to the season, winning the Premier League Player of the Month award for October.

However, the latest outgoing transfer is taking place elsewhere within the INEOS football portfolio.

Attacking departure confirmed

OGC Nice have officially confirmed on their club website that they have reached an agreement with FC Lorient for the permanent transfer of Gabin Bernardeau.

The 20-year-old can play as both an attacking midfielder and a right winger.

He only arrived at Nice in the summer of 2025 after impressing with Le Mans, but leaves after just one season with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s club.

During his time at Nice, Bernardeau made eight senior appearances.

Before he joined the club, the French Under-20 international enjoyed a productive campaign with Le Mans, scoring four goals and providing nine assists in 35 appearances to establish himself as one of the club’s brightest young talents.

Earlier this month, we covered a report suggesting that Nice and Lorient had reached an agreement worth €1 million, and that deal has now been officially completed.

Gabin Bernardeau now joins a Lorient side where he is expected to receive more consistent first-team opportunities as he continues his development.

Although much of the attention remains on United’s transfer activity, Ratcliffe’s clubs continue to be active across Europe.

With arrivals and departures taking place at both Old Trafford and Nice, INEOS are continuing a busy summer as they reshape squads ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
