Inter add Venezia’s Idzes to shortlist for defensive reinforcements

Inter are reportedly closely monitoring Venezia’s Jay Idzes, the latest name to make the list of their possible defensive transfer targets for next summer.

With 37-year-old Francesco Acerbi and 33-year-old Stefan De Vrij being the main centre-back options at Simone Inzaghi’s disposal this season, the Nerazzurri have been looking to a host of profiles to rejuvenate their defence next season.

Isak Hien of Atalanta and Udinese’s Jaka Bijol were among the names linked with a potential move to the San Siro, but the club’s directors are still assessing alternative options before making a formal move.

Inter consider Venezia defender Idzes as Acerbi successor

According to Tuttosport, the Nerazzurri have been particularly impressed by Venezia’s Jay Idzes, whose recent performances have showcased his ability to neutralise top-tier strikers such as Artem Dovbyk, Romelu Lukaku, and Mateo Retegui—all of whom struggled to make an impact against the Indonesian defender.

Idzes’ strong marking and anticipation skills make him a compelling candidate to succeed Francesco Acerbi, who has battled multiple injuries this season.

Inter’s well-established relationship with Venezia—having facilitated several transfers between the clubs in recent months—could further smooth negotiations should they decide to make a move for the 24-year-old centre-back.
