Inter must balance the Scudetto race with the Champions League Final, so Lautaro Martinez should be rested against Lazio, though several top players are ready to start.

It kicks off at San Siro on Sunday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT, 20.45 CET).

The run for the Serie A title had seemed to be over when falling three points behind leaders Napoli, but that all changed when Antonio Conte’s men were held to a 2-2 home draw by Genoa.

Now with two rounds left to play, the gap at the top is only one point, so Simone Inzaghi has to take that into consideration when choosing his squad.

Inter must balance rest with strong XI

According to Sky Sport Italia and FCInterNews , Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Davide Frattesi and Benjamin Pavard will all be available against Lazio, even if they probably won’t be in the starting XI.

Lautaro Martinez is still working separately to regain full fitness after a muscle scare in the first leg of the semi-final against Barcelona, so at most he’ll be risked for the final day of the season against Como.

The aim remains to have him at his best for the Champions League Final with Paris Saint-Germain on May 31.

Sky Sport Italia report that we could see a lot less squad rotation for them in the Lazio match, so bringing back the likes of Marcus Thuram, Francesco Acerbi, Nicolò Barella, Federico Dimarco, Hakan Calhanoglu and goalkeeper Yann Sommer to the starting XI.

While Inter are hosting Lazio, Napoli face a very tricky trip to Cristian Chivu’s Parma.

Tottenham Hotspur Battle Man Utd With Serious ‘Talks Underway’ for ‘World’s Most Improved Striker’

Spurs are continuing a busy window in which they have already signed five new incomings, as they are interested in another player to bolster their side ahead of a congested season. Now, Tottenham Hotspur are in talks for Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain. Tottenham Hotspur Battle Manchester United for Striker Target Positive Talks Underway Santi Aouna has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Kolo Muani, with the striker managing three goal contributions in as many games at the Club World Cup for Juventus. He reports that there are “talks underway”. Meanwhile, Juventus want to keep him after a loan spell last season, but despite talks being “positive”, negotiations have “stalled for weeks” with the clubs now “far from an agreement”. Spurs, amongst others, are “sérieux” (serious) about hijacking this deal. Premier League rivals Manchester United and Newcastle United are also “monitoring the situation”. For the Magpies, this comes after Liverpool took their top target Hugo Ekitike for £80 million and after Alexander Isak handed in a transfer request. Meanwhile, Manchester United look to strengthen their frontline even more, and have shown interest in other strikers like Benjamin Sesko. Where Would Randal Kolo Muani Fit In? This move seems curious, as Spurs signed Dominic Solanke for £65 million just a year ago. Thomas Frank will surely want to play a 4-2-3-1, which doesn’t leave much space for two strikers. However, at Brentford, Bryan Mbeumo had operated as a winger despite being a very direct forward, netting 20 in the league last campaign. Perhaps, the “world’s most improved striker” could operate in a similar role: he has often played as a winger before (15 times in 2023/24) and therefore could be a threat from the flank under Frank this year. Alternatively, he could rotate with Solanke in a season in which Spurs have to juggle Champions League and domestic football.

Yankees continue to enhance bullpen with Jake Bird acquisition

The New York Yankees have continued to fortify their bullpen, acquiring right-handed reliever Jake Bird from the Colorado Rockies, per YES Network's Jack Curry. This trade marks the second recent deal between the Yankees and Rockies, following New York’s July 25 trade for infielder Ryan McMahon. In return, Colorado receives a pair of New York's prospects, second baseman Roc Riggio (No. 10 in the Yankees' system) and left-handed pitcher Ben Shields (No. 28). Both players advanced through the Yankees’ system this season, rising from rookie ball to Double-A. Bird, 29, has posted a 4.73 ERA with 62 strikeouts in 53 1/3 innings this season. With team control through 2028, Bird represents a long-term asset for New York rather than a short-term rental. Unlike most power arms in the Yankees' bullpen, Bird relies on finesse. His repertoire centers around an 84 mph sweeper — his most used pitch, thrown 39.5% of the time — complemented by an 80.5 mph changeup and a 94.4 mph sinker. Bird will join a revamped bullpen that now includes David Bednar, acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates less than an hour prior to the Bird transaction.

Clippers Announce Multiple Roster Moves After Chris Paul Press Conference

The LA Clippers are putting the final touches on a roster that looks to be a great one, on paper. They've had a busy offseason when many expected them to mostly stand pat, adding Chris Paul, Brook Lopez, and Bradley Beal in free agency while trading Norman Powell away in a three-team deal that netted them John Collins. To make the Bradley Beal move, the Clippers had to waive Jordan Miller, a young prospect they have a lot of belief in. He stayed with the team for the NBA Summer League, made the All-Summer League First Team, but still couldn't find any other opportunities, so it was believed the Clippers could bring him back in some capacity. The Clippers announced on Tuesday that they re-signed Jordan Miller, bringing the former Miami Hurricane back on a two-way contract. They had three two-way players signed already, so they also announced who they waived. "The LA Clippers have signed Jordan Miller to a two-way contract," they announced. "In a corresponding move, the Clippers have waived Patrick Baldwin Jr." Miller averaged 4.1 PPG in his 37 appearances for the Clippers last season, and a staggering 24.5 PPG in his infrequent appearances in the G-League. He was the 48th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft and has made a lasting impression on the organization in his time. Baldwin, a former first-round pick by the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Draft, wasn't signed to his two-way contract by the Clippers until March, and he only appeared in two games for them. He was traded after his rookie season for Chris Paul, spent a year and a half with the Wizards, then who traded to the San Antonio Spurs in a four-team deal last year before being waived.

3 Instant Takeaways from the Phillies Trading for Harrison Bader

3 Instant Takeaways from the Phillies Trading for Harrison Bader

The Philadelphia Phillies made their second deal in 24 hours on Thursday. The Phillies acquired outfielder Harrison Bader from the Minnesota Twins, according to MLB.com's Todd Zolecki. In return, the Phillies are sending outfielder Hendry Mendez (their No. 12 prospect) and right-hander Geremy Villoria to Minnesota. The move comes one day after Philadelphia landed closer Jhoan Duran. It signals a clear all-in approach from the front office. At 61-47, the Phillies are a half game behind the New York Mets for the lead in the National League East, and they're already preparing for a stretch run with the goal of a deep October push. 1. Bader's Bat is Finally Back After three straight years of inconsistent offense, Bader is having a bounce-back season. Bader has already matched his career-high 12 home runs, is slugging .439 and owns a .399 on-base percentage. It's his best offensive output since 2021. The most promising stat? A 26.4% walk rate, the highest he's posted since the shortened 2020 season. 2. It's Always Defense in Philadelphia Bader's bat is a bonus, but his glove is better. The 2021 Gold Glove winner remains one of the game's best defensive center fielders. His speed, instincts, and ability to cover ground make him an ideal late-inning substitution option, especially in postseason games where defense is magnified. In Philadelphia, Bader adds right-handed balance to a left-heavy outfield that includes Brandon Marsh and Johan Rojas, while providing late-game insurance for Nick Castellanos in right. Bader offers a strong mix of platoon flexibility, defensive reliability, and postseason experience. 3. Phillies Upgrade Without Touching the Top of the Farm This was a smart deal from the Phillies' perspective. By parting with Mendez and Villoria, they improve their roster without moving a top-10 prospect. Mendez is a promising left-handed bat still in High-A, while Villoria is a developmental arm. Combined with the Duran trade, the Phillies have now addressed both the bullpen and outfield without dealing major-league contributors or elite prospects. It's a calculated push for the NL East crown and a roster better built for October.
