With Roma taking first choice Manu Koné off the market, Inter are turning to Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup.

The Nerazzurri had thrown their hat into the ring for Koné and negotiations had been going well until the Friedkin family suddenly put a stop to those talks.

Now they must turn towards Plan B and he has been on their radar for quite a while already this summer.

Inter turn towards Frendrup

He would be considerably cheaper, as Calciomercato.it report that the deal could be struck with Genoa for circa €20-25m.

The 24-year-old Denmark international is under contract with Genoa until June 2028, the club he had joined from Brondby in January 2022.

That was at a reported cost of €4.4m, so the sale for €20-25m would represent a tiny profit for the Grifone.

At the same time, Inter would intend to make room by parting company with Benjamin Pavard, while Saudi Pro League sides remain the favourites for Frendrup.
