A couple of weeks ago, Sergio Busquets announced that he will retire from football after the 2025 MLS Season with Inter Miami. He is not the only Inter Miami star who will retire after the 2025 MLS Season.

Jordi Alba did something similar to Busquets and announced that he will retire from football on his Instagram account.

Alba thanked the fans, teammates, and his former clubs that supported him throughout his career. This one feels different from the Busquets' announcement, as both were in very different situations in terms of contracts.

Jordi Alba Signed a Contract Extension with Inter Miami in May

Jordi Alba had the intention to play with Inter Miami for another two years. On May 15, 2025, Inter Miami announced that Jordi Alba had signed a contract extension running through the 2027 Major League Soccer (MLS) season.

After signing the contract extension, Alba said, "I’m happy to renew my contract because I have the desire to continue competing, and because of how I feel at the Club, with the affection I receive from fans at every match. I've been very comfortable these past two years at the Club, and I feel very loved by all the fans," said Alba. "We have that desire to continue competing, to continue winning, and, hopefully, win as many titles as possible."

Many Inter Miami fans now fear that Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez could soon decide to retire, as a contract extension would not stop them from making a decision to retire, like how Jordi Alba did.
