The MLS champions, Inter Miami, are favored to retain their title based on their squad building ahead of the 2026 MLS Season.

Inter Miami confirmed that Rodrigo De Paul and Luis Suarez will stay in the squad along with Lionel Messi and other players from last season.

Suarez's future was up in the air as many rumors suggested that Inter Miami were looking for a new striker for 2026, but the Uruguayan striker stayed put. Suarez signed a one-year contract extension and will play another year in the MLS.

Suarez's contract extension is welcomed by some Inter Miami fans and MLS fans, but one MLS legend warns the club about this decision to let the striker stay for another year.

Three-time MLS Cup winner Alejandro Moreno reacted to Inter Miami sticking with Luis Suarez for another year in the MLS.

Moreno reveals that he was surprised that Inter Miami went along with offering Suarez a new contract, especially after the MLS playoffs, when Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano decided not to play the Uruguayan striker for the majority of games.

Moreno then speaks on Suarez's behavior, which he believes should be a concern for Inter Miami next year.

Alejandro Moreno on Inter Miami's Luis Suarez

On the 'Futbol Americas' show on ESPN FC, Alejandro Moreno talks about Suarez's behavior being a bad factor for Inter Miami.

Moreno speaks on Suarez's behavior this past season, where he spat at a Seattle Sounders staff member and kicked a Nashville SC player, which led to another suspension.

The former MLS striker said, "You cannot discuss Luis Suárez without bringing up behaviors. And it’s only a fair conversation because he has made it into a fair conversation and a fair discussion."

Moreno continues and said, "There was a point in which Luis Suárez got himself suspended just because he decided to donkey kick somebody in a very sensitive area. Out of nowhere! So, it’s not just the spitting incident that it’s right there for you to see; there’s also behaviors on the field that you kinda go, is that worth it? Like do we really need to have this?"

The former MLS Cup champion says that Suarez's arrival was welcomed due to the circumstances, but now he believes his time in Miami should have ended. Moreno said, "Early in his career, it was all worthwhile. Now, I would suggest perhaps not."
