After one season in the Championship, Ipswich Town returns to the Premier League and will play its first game of the new season at Portman Road to host Sunderland.

Ipswich Town reached direct promotion to the Premier League after finishing second in the Championship last season. Ipswich Town return to the Premier League after playing in the top tier of English football in the 2024/25 season, where they got relegated by finishing 19th.

Ipswich Town have been impressive in the pre-season and won their last four friendly matches. Their final pre-season match finished in a 4-2 win over Bundesliga side Union Berlin.

Sunderland will play in its second straight season in the Premier League after returning to the top flight of English football last season. Sunderland impressed many fans last season by finishing 7th and securing Europa League football.

Sunderland also played a pre-season to prepare for the new season and have won their last three friendly matches. Sunderland’s previous friendly match was a 2-1 home win over Ligue 1 side Rennes.

Ipswich Town vs. Sunderland will kick off at 10 a.m. ET/ 7 a.m. PT in the United States. The match will kick off at 3 p.m. local time at Portman Road in Ipswich, Suffolk.

The match will be available to watch in the United States through select TV channels and streaming services but not in the UK due to the traditional 3:00 PM Saturday blackout rule.
