Ahead of Inter Miami's match against the New England Revolution, there is concern in regards to Lionel Messi's participation in the match. The reason is due to the upcoming international break next week.

The Argentina National Team announced the official roster for the upcoming friendly matches for Argentina next week. Lionel Messi is included in the list, and some fans believe he won't be risked for injury.

Messi is expected to play and start in the match against the New England Revolution. Messi is motivated to help Inter Miami reach the top position in the Eastern Conference and potentially get close to the top position in the Supporters' Shield standings.

Inter Miami is fourth in the Eastern Conference with 56 points and sixth in the Supporters' Shield standings. Inter Miami lost their previous match in the MLS to the Chicago Fire 5-3 a few days ago.

Messi was seen training with the rest of the Inter Miami team ahead of the match against the New England Revolution.

Inter Miami is seven points behind first-place Philadelphia Union in the Eastern Conference and would need to win the match against the New England Revolution for a chance to finish first.

Messi set to miss next week's Inter Miami game

Due to Messi being called up for the most recent Argentina national team roster for the upcoming friendly matches, the Argentine star is set to miss Inter Miami's game against Atlanta United.

Messi is expected to play for Argentina in the friendlies against Venezuela and Puerto Rico. The match against Venezuela is on October 10, and the match against Puerto Rico is on October 13.

The match against Atlanta United will be played at Chase Stadium next week on October 11, 2025. It will be Inter Miami's last MLS regular-season home match at Chase Stadium.

Inter Miami's last regular-season match is against Nashville SC on October 18 at GEODIS Park.
