LAFC are set to host their rivals, the San Jose Earthquakes, in a high-stakes meeting at the top of the Western Conference.

Both teams have played seven matches, with San Jose currently holding second place with 18 points, while LAFC follows closely behind with 16 points.

LAFC enters the match with high morale after a 1-1 draw against Cruz Azul in Mexico, a result that secured their advancement to the Concacaf Champions Cup semifinals.

San Jose has also been in exceptional form, boasting a 6-0-1 record. Their defensive discipline has been a highlight of their season, having conceded only two goals in MLS play while winning four of their last five fixtures.

LAFC’s attack continues to be led by Denis Bouanga, who has recorded four goals and eight total goal contributions.

Son Heung-min has also emerged as a vital playmaker for the side; although he is yet to find the net, he has provided seven assists in just six appearances.

With both teams competing for the top spot in the conference, this match marks a significant early-season test for both rosters.

Son currently leads MLS with 7 assists this season. Although he hasn't scored in league play yet in 2026, he recently scored in the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinals against Cruz Azul to help LAFC advance.
