We saw how Tottenham Hotspur had been looking to add some depth and talent to the striking roster all summer transfer window with Daniel Levy shuffling between potential candidates almost every week, but when it came to the decisive hours of the summer transfer window, the North London club acted quite decisively as they secured the loan deal to bring Randal Kolo Muani to Hotspur Way from PSG while beating Juventus in the process for his signature.
The Frenchman signed for Tottenham on a vanilla season-long loan as Tottenham continued to restructure their roster as per the structural framework of Thomas Frank.
Muani, who cost PSG £77 million in 2023 , is the latest addition in what has been an ambitious summer dealing at Hotspur Way, given the marquee arrival of Xavi Simons followed by that much-talked-about contract renewal of now Tottenham captain Cristian Romero.
And it is debated how the chiefs at Hotspur Way look at the 26-year-old as someone with the potential to elevate that frontline attack irrespective of whether he is leading the line or drifting into the wide channels. And despite the hefty financial commitments from Tottenham towards bringing Muani to N17, former Tottenham scout Bryan King, in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, insists that his transfer is highly unlikely to upset the squad’s wage balance, which Levy has strived to create at Hotspur Way.
He said:
“I would think Spurs are paying the majority of his (Kolo Muani’s) wages,” King said.
“And of course, with it being a loan, that doesn’t encroach on the likes of Romero and (James) Maddison in terms of the wage structure.
“It’s not going to put their noses out of joint when Kolo Muani comes in on the money that he’s on.
“He must be an excellent talent for him to have cost PSG that much money previously. It can only be a positive for Tottenham to bring in a player of that quality.”
Player | Weekly Wage |
---|---|
Cristian Romero | £195,000 |
Xavi Simons | £195,000 |
James Maddison | £170,000 |
Randal Kolo Muani | £150,000 |
João Palhinha | £135,000 |
If you start looking at the numbers behind according to Capology, the duo of Romero and Simons are now heading that Lilywhites wage list at £195,000 per week, with currently injured midfielder James Maddison is close behind at £170,000.
Kolo Muani has a wage bill which aggregates to an estimated £150,000, which is not too much considering Daniel Levy’s financial flex, and it also shows how Tottenham are quite determined to stay within the discipline limits in terms of wage structure.
