Calum McFarlane has confirmed he’s spoken to the Chelsea squad about the importance of making sure team news leaks don’t happen again.
Ahead of Tuesday’s defeat against Brighton Marc Cucurella’s barber revealed Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro wouldn’t be playing.
There were also issues ahead of both games against PSG in the Champions League, when the Chelsea team was made public hours before kick off.
Then head coach Liam Rosenior said the issue had been dealt with, but it’s now a problem for McFarlane to deal with.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup semi final against Leeds at Wembley, McFarlane confirmed the issue had been dealt with.
“It has been addressed. It’s been addressed previously. It’s something that we are looking into and it needs to stop,” he said as quoted by Football London.
“We’ve spoken to them about the importance of that and making sure it doesn’t happen again.”
You would expect better from a senior player like Cucurella, but this is just another example of the issues within the squad.
Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer are expected to return against Leeds in a big boost for the Blues, but it’s unclear if they are fit to start.
McFarlane gave no update on Reece James, but it appears unlikely he’ll feature at Wembley as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.
If the Blues are able to advance past Leeds, Manchester City await in the final following their 2-1 win against Southampton on Saturday.
