Italy head coach Gennaro Gattuso could hand Inter Milan prodigy Francesco Pio Esposito his maiden international call-up.

According to Matteo Moretto via FCInterNews, the 20-year-old striker could make his senior debut for Italy against Estonia and Israel.

Gli Azzurri’s qualification campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup begins in September with matches against sub-par rivals.

However, after failing to qualify for the last two tournaments, the four-time world champions cannot take anything for granted.

Francesco Pio Esposito has returned to Inter after an outstanding season-long loan at Spezia last term.

Although he’s still waiting for a chance to shine in Serie A, Esposito could make his Italy debut next month.

Gattuso will make his first touchline appearance for his country at the start of the qualifying cycle.

Meanwhile, Esposito’s inclusion could be one of several changes intended to reignite the faltering squad.
