The Jamaican Women's National Soccer Team advanced to the round of 16 at the World Cup for the first time in its history with a 0-0 draw against Brazil on Wednesday night.
The "Reggae Girlz" earned a scoreless tie against France on July 23 and defeated Panama 1-0 on Saturday for their first ever tournament victory. This is also Brazil's first group-stage elimination since 1995.

Jamaica will make their knockout stage debut on Tuesday, but don't know their opponent yet.
It was reported after the team's draw against France that "The Jamaica Football Federation gave its women's program so little that the Reggae Girlz were forced to crowd source funding to help them travel to Oceania for the tournament."
Jamaica had to launch a GoFundMe to help pay for their trip to the Women’s World Cup.

Furthermore, The Jamaica Football Federation also "failed to organize" international friendlies for manager Lorne Donaldson's group to help them prepare for the ultimate stage and "couldn't even manage to confirm necessary team training camps."
Jamaica made its Women's World Cup debut in 2019 and dropped all three of their group stage matches against Australia, Brazil and Italy by a combined score of 12-1.
Angel City FC defender Allyson Swaby has Jamaica's lone goal of the tournament thus far, while Tottenham Hotspur's Rebecca Spencer has racked up 17 saves and three shutouts for the club.
The Brazil loss also marked the final World Cup contest for 37-year-old Marta. The Orlando Pride forward has said that even though she wasn't retiring from the game completely, this summer would be her last tournament, saying "We have to understand that a time comes for us to prioritise other things," according to an ESPN report.
Wednesday was Marta's first start of this year's World Cup, but she was subbed out in the 81st minute. The three-time Copa America champion and two-time Olympic silver medalist ends her World Cup career having scored in five different tournaments.
Marta is also the country's all-time leading scorer with 117 goals and is a six-time FIFA World Player of the Year.
