Joao Gomes decides between joining Manchester United or Liverpool

Joao Gomes has been linked with a move to Manchester United for a prolonged period with the club’s interest in the midfielder becoming more apparent last year.

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ imminent relegation to the Championship could make a move away from his current club more likely whilst subsequently opening the door for a move to Manchester United.

The 25-year-old, who has played 30 Premier League games this season, could be viewed by the Red Devils to be an ideal replacement for Casemiro who is expected to leave the club at the end of this season.

A large element of his gameplay this season in the league has come from his defensive work with the Brazilian making 88 tackles and 31 interceptions so far this campaign.

Liverpool’s interest in Joao Gomes has become more apparent recently, however, with RTI Sports reporting that the Reds are interested in a move for the 25-year-old this summer.

The outlet has also revealed that the midfielder has decided between the two clubs with him expressing a desire to play for Liverpool.

Chelsea are also reported to have expressed an interest in the midfielder with Manchester United, Liverpool, and the Blues emerging as the three clubs leading the race for the Brazilian.

News of Gomes’ preference for a Liverpool move may make the Reds slight favourites in this battle, though, as the summer window approaches.

Manchester United may therefore be forced to turn their attention towards other midfielders.

Ederson has rejected a move to Old Trafford, crossing out one option, but a move for Marc Casado could be open after he told his representatives to listen to offers from clubs ahead of the window.

Should the Red Devils go down this road, Casado could be the man the club signs to replace Casemiro.

But, with the season not over yet, there is still time for clubs to construct recruitment plans and to steal players away from each other.

In this sense, moves for all of the aforementioned players could become open if Manchester United are able to construct the right type of deal.
