Joe Cole backs Chelsea player to make last minute World Cup push – we don’t agree

Cole Palmer was on course to be England’s key player at this World Cup, now we’re not sure he should even be in the squad.

Joe Cole has insisted that Cole Palmer has to go to the World Cup with England, despite his long period of bad form.

“You have to find a space for Cole Palmer on the plane in a 26-man squad,” Cole said in an interview with The Sun.

“If he doesn’t start, he can open games up. He can do things that others can’t, and we’ve seen that penalty shoot-out personality.

“He’s not at his best, and other players are playing really well, but there’s no reason not to bring him.

“It’s the first test he’s faced. He’s a great player. He’s already achieved greatness in his career.”

Palmer touch and go for World Cup place

Right now, we’re not sure we’d agree. Palmer has followed a really average 6 months with a really bad 6 months. The injury provided him with good cover, but even since returning to the team at the turn of the year he’s not improved.

The only thing that might save him and get him on the plane is the equally poor form of the likes of Morgan Rogers, plus the injury to James Maddison.

Chelsea have been told to raid relegated teams for Premier League experienced players by Joe Cole, who named 7 potential signings.

Estevao’s World Cup dream looks to be over after his latest injury update, brutal news all round for the youngster.
