Juventus continue to search for another attacker to add some depth and recently reached out to Fiorentina to inquire about Albert Gudmundsson, but the counterparty don’t want to part ways with him, Matteo Moretto reports (via SOSFanta).

The Viola have gotten busy in January, adding two new wingers, Manor Solomon from Villarreal, via Tottenham, and Jack Harrison from Leeds United. Despite their new weapons, they fully plan to keep hold of the Icelandic star.

Juventus had already kicked the tires earlier on Gudmundsson at the beginning of January, and Fiorentina asked to insert either Daniele Rugani or Fabio Miretti, but the talks stalled. The 27-year-old hasn’t been particularly consistent but has posted 7 goals and 4 assists in 26 season appearances across all competitions. He has been central in Paolo Vanoli’s scheme. The Gigliati paid nearly €19M to sign him from Genoa.

Bianconeri’s director Giorgio Chiellini told Sky on Wednesday that they weren’t close to completing any signing at the moment. They face competition from Napoli for Daniel Maldini. The Azzurri could add multiple forwards down the stretch.

Our Take on Gudmundsson, Fiorentina, and Juventus

He’d be a little overqualified for his prospective role, but he’s versatile, and it was worth a shot. Even though he has perked up recently, he surely hasn’t been as devastating as he was at Genoa during his time in Tuscany.

It appears that Maldini’s agent is shopping him around since he’s buried in the depth chart at Atalanta. He’d be an okay choice as a clear backup if his valuation were meager. He has had some success as a super-sub, as they have more meaningful needs to take care of.
