Kai Havertz joins Cristiano Ronaldo in rare Champions League final scoring record

Havertz’s goal for Arsenal added him to a short list of players who have scored in more than one Champions League final.

The list includes several of the competition’s most recognisable names, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Gareth Bale and Vinicius Junior.

Cristiano Ronaldo remains the only player to score in three Champions League finals.

The Portugal forward scored for Manchester United in the 2008 final, before also finding the net for Real Madrid in the 2014 and 2017 finals.

Havertz has now scored Champions League final goals for Chelsea and Arsenal

Havertz’s place on the list is notable because his two goals came for different English clubs.

He scored the only goal of the game for Chelsea in their 2021 final win over Manchester City.

Five years later, he opened the scoring for Arsenal against PSG in Budapest.

UEFA states that Havertz is one of only three players to score for two different clubs in Champions League finals.

That puts him in a specific historical category within the competition, separate from wider comparisons about overall career records or status.
