Manchester United’s summer rebuild has continued at a steady pace as Michael Carrick shapes his squad ahead of his first full season in charge.

With reinforcements arriving across the pitch, the club have also addressed an important area by adding more experience between the posts.

The goalkeeping department has undergone significant changes in recent weeks, and another piece of that puzzle has now fallen into place.

Manchester United have officially confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Karl Darlow following the expiry of his contract with Leeds United.

The experienced shot-stopper has put pen to paper on a contract running until June 2028 and arrives at Old Trafford to add depth and leadership to Carrick’s squad.

Karl Darlow breaks silence on Manchester United move

Shortly after the move was announced, Darlow shared his excitement about joining the Red Devils.

“Proud to have joined such a historic club. So excited for the challenge ahead & to meet up with the boys. Grateful. Let’s go!.”

United have also confirmed that Karl Darlow will wear the number 12 shirt during his time at the club.

The 35-year-old is expected to provide experienced competition and support for Senne Lammens, who firmly established himself as Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper after an outstanding debut campaign last season.

The signing comes after a major reshuffle in United’s goalkeeping ranks.

Andre Onana has joined Trabzonspor on loan for the season, while Altay Bayindir is widely expected to complete a permanent move away from Old Trafford before the transfer window closes.

With those departures, Darlow gives Carrick a reliable and experienced option behind Lammens as Manchester United prepare for the challenges of the new season.
