Tottenham are trying hard to land Crsytal Palace star Marc Guehi in the summer

Tottenham Hotspur need to bring in reinforcements in the summer if they want to compete for trophies next season. The Lilywhites managed to end the season on a high after winning the Europa League last week. Ange Postecoglou’s men exceeded all expectations and ended their 17-year wait for a major trophy against all odds.

Now, the North London club must focus on bringing in new players in the summer to build on the Europa League success. Spurs have the perfect opportunity to use the silverware as a springboard and close the gap on their rivals next season. The only cause of concern is that the Lilywhites must adopt the ‘sell-to-buy’ policy if they want to sign new players due to the disastrous Premier League campaign they endured.

Ange’s men finished just a place above the relegation zone in the league and it is believed that the club suffered major financial implications due to the poor league position. But winning the Europa League and qualifying for Champions League football for next season might just be the saving grace the Lilywhites need as they look to kickstart a new era at N17.

Tottenham looking to seal the deal for Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi

There is no surprise that Tottenham are looking to bring in a new centre-back in the summer after a dismal domestic campaign. With Cristian Romero heading for the exit doors at N17, Daniel Levy is looking to sign a perfect replacement in the summer that could fill the defensive void left behind by the Argentina international.

Spurs are interested in Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi and view the England international as the ideal Romero replacement. Now, there is a new update in the transfer sage involving the Palace captain. Keith Wyness believes that a swap deal between both clubs will bring in Marc Guehi to N17. Speaking on the Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, Wyness said,

“It’ll be a blow if Guehi goes because the main objective for Palace will be keeping this squad together. I’m hearing he won’t be going to Barcelona or Real Madrid for free – he’ll be going to Spurs, is what I’m hearing. There may be a player swap which can benefit Palace there.”

The ex-Villa CEO added,

“I don’t think it’ll be about getting the cash, it’ll be about getting the right players for Palace. We may see a swap there and it could end up being a good move for both clubs. If they are going to lose players, Palace have got to replace them with quality.”

Keith Wyness suggested that Crystal Palace want to keep Marc Guehi in the summer, despite strong interest from other clubs. The ex-Villa CEO insists that Tottenham is the most likely option for the England international if he leaves Selhurst Park in the coming weeks. Wyness also adds that a swap deal between both clubs is likely to happen as Palace will want a defender with the same quality if they lose Marc Guehi.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the 24-year-old. Tottenham need to make moves in the transfer market quickly and signing the Palace star is a step in the right direction. He is a complete defender that could fit in perfectly at N17 under Ange Postecoglou. His ability to play out from the back is second to none and the centre-back prefers getting into ground duels as well.
