Ipswich Town have officially confirmed that former Manchester United coach Kieran McKenna has stepped down as the club’s manager after five seasons in charge.

The Championship club announced the news on their official website, revealing that McKenna has decided to step away from football management to dedicate more time to his family.

The decision comes after one of the most successful periods in Ipswich’s recent history.

Manchester United supporters have followed McKenna’s progress closely since his departure from Old Trafford.

He worked under both Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before taking his first senior managerial role.

We have recently covered reports that Fulham had identified the 40-year-old as their preferred candidate to replace Marco Silva following the Portuguese coach’s move to Benfica.

It was even claimed that the London club had offered McKenna a contract until 2029.

Now, Ipswich themselves have confirmed that McKenna’s time at the club has come to an end.

In a statement, the club explained that the former Manchester United coach had chosen to step away from management and spend more time with his family.

McKenna’s stock has risen enormously since leaving Old Trafford.

His work with young players and his attacking style of football turned him into one of the most highly-rated British coaches.

That led to repeated interest from clubs across the Premier League.

For now, though, the focus is not on another managerial move.

Instead, Ipswich have officially confirmed that the former Manchester United coach is leaving the dugout after five memorable seasons at the club.

McKenna leaves Ipswich after another remarkable campaign that ended with automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

The Tractor Boys finished second in the Championship with 84 points.

They won 23 of their 46 matches and once again established themselves as one of the division’s standout teams under the former Manchester United coach.
