The Los Angeles Dodgers are opening a section for fans fully vaccinated against COVID-19 for Saturday's game against the San Diego Padres.
Major League Soccer club LAFC are doing the same but in their own way.
On Friday, LAFC announced the establishment of a fully vaccinated-only section where fans can lock arms, sing, chant and not adhere to social distancing guidelines for Saturday's match against Seattle Sounders FC.
"Fans 16 and older will be required to provide documentation showing that at least two weeks have passed since a final vaccination dose" to obtain a seat in the section, according to the club's release. "Children from 2 to 15 years of age will be required to show proof they have tested negative for COVID-19 within 72 hours of admission to Banc of California Stadium."
All supporters must wear masks at all times, except when actively eating and/or drinking in seats, and social distancing outside of the vaccinated-only section is mandatory.
Additionally, LAFC have partnered with the LA County Department of Health to host an on-site COVID-19 vaccination clinic for individuals "on a first-come, first-serve basis" before the match. Fans must register for a vaccine shot ahead of time.
"LAFC has been an extraordinary partner throughout the pandemic, and we couldn’t be more excited to work with them to get more people vaccinated," LA County Department of Health Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer said in a prepared statement. "Getting as many people vaccinated as possible is critical to the recovery of our community and our economy, and thanks to partners like LAFC that are committed to the safety of their fans, there is a beacon of hope for defeating this pandemic."
