Lazio director Angelo Fabiani denies that Nuno Tavares left the stadium during the Rome Derby on Sunday so the ex-Arsenal defender won’t be fined.
Lazio won’t fine their defender Nuno Tavares as the club have denied that the Portuguese left-back left the Stadio Olimpico during Sunday’s match against Roma.
Italian sources had claimed that Tavares did not wait for the end of the match to leave the stadium after being subbed off at halftime, so he risked being fined by the Biancocelesti.
Fabiani, however, clarified that Tavares did not leave the Olimpico while the Rome derby was ongoing.
“He didn’t leave the stadium. Obviously, he was angry and disappointed, like all of us,” Fabiani said via TMW.
“There will be no fine for a technical mistake that anyone can make on the pitch.”
Tavares was replaced during the halftime break after contributing to Roma’s winning goal by losing possession at the edge of the box.
Lazio have only earned three points in the opening four games of the season, winning one match and losing three.
Their next match is away at Genoa this coming Monday.
