AC Milan have reportedly added Lazio midfielder Nicolo Rovella to their shortlist as they search the market for Tijjani Reijnders’ replacement.

The Rossoneri are negotiating the sale of the Dutchman to Manchester City, and they’ll be looking to reinvest the cash in a new midfielder. Following the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri as the new head coach, the latter has specifically requested the addition of a deep-lying playmaker, a profile that the club lacks at the moment.

So according to Calciomercato , the Milan management has drawn a three-man shortlist, and it includes Rovella. In addition to the 23-year-old, the San Siro outfit is also tracking Torino’s Samuele Ricci who appears to be the most plausible option.

The last name on the list is Hans Nicolussi Caviglia who’s coming off a great campaign at Venezia, at least on a personal level. The Juventus youth product is also familiar with Allegri’s football, having played under the Livorno native last season.

As for Rovella, the source believes Lazio aren’t willing to deprive themselves of the young Italian’s services, especially at this delicate moment. Moreover, the midfielder had already expressed his desire to remain at Formello, possibly until the end of his career after falling in love with the club’s culture.

The former Genoa star made leaps and bounds this season under the guidance of Marco Baroni, becoming an automatic starter. He could be set to once again work under Maurizio Sarri, the manager who brought him to Lazio in the summer of 2023. The 66-year-old’s return to the club is edging ever closer.
