The ceremony gave out 13 awards, including the best young players awards and best goalkeepers of the year awards. The ceremony introduced a new award where Lionel Messi and Inter Miami are nominated.
The new award is called The Best Play of the Year award. The nominees showcased five team goals from around the world, and an Inter Miami goal was one of them.
The Inter Miami goal nominated was the team's goal against the New York Red Bulls in the MLS that happened earlier this year. Lionel Messi provided the assist for Jordi Alba to give Inter Miami the equalizer against the NY Red Bulls.

Real Madrid's goal against Man City in the Champions League is also admired for the quick counter-attacking play that led to a slick Kylian Mbappe finish.
Spain's fifth goal against France in the UEFA Nations League semifinal was admirable as Pedro Porro found Lamine Yamal on the edge of the box. The teenager toe-pokes the ball past Mike Maignan.
