The Kop have been refreshing their Twitter screens hoping for news on Liverpool bringing in some attacking reinforcements in the ongoing January transfer window, and this one may disappoint a lot of the supporters as the Reds step away from pursuing a move for highly regarded Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush, per Football Insider.

The Egyptian international has been in phenomenal form in the ongoing 2024/25 campaign, with 18 goals and 12 assists in 24 appearances, but it looks like the chiefs at Kikrby are looking at strengthening other areas of Slot’s roster despite the 25-year-old’s availability.

Marmoush is a versatile profile pursued by multiple Premier League clubs, but it seems Manchester City is ahead of the rest in snapping up his signature, with reports already revealing that the Manchester Blues have started discussing a potential deal with German giants and are ready to pay the £50 million asking price.

For Pep Guardiola, the 25-year-old’s ability to play different roles in the attacking positions makes it an ideal signing given how City players like to rotate around in spaces when in possession.

Moving away from Marmoush makes sense at L4

From Liverpool, not putting their hat in Marmoush shows that the Merseysiders are focused on filling more urgent needs given how the Reds are competing on several fronts this season, including having a mammoth lead in the Premier League and possibly going all the way in the Champions League.

In the attack, while Darwin Núñez’s form is a thing of concern, Slot has multiple options with Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Luis Díaz, and Diogo Jota all fit to play at L4.

The Premier League table leaders need defensive and midfield signings on a higher priority at the moment, especially if they are to challenge on all fronts.
