Kevin De Bruyne may have ended his tenure at Manchester City, but Liverpool are trying to ensure his Premier League journey isn’t over. The Belgian is involved in a stunning move to the Red side of Merseyside as Arne Slot looks to bring in the six-time Premier League champion to the club. De Bruyne has been getting positive messages from across the football community as he will end a remarkable 10-year tenure at Manchester City.

However, all those messages may turn sour if he moves to Liverpool. The blue side of Manchester City considers De Bruyne a club legend as he was part of the team that won six Premier League titles and the Champions League. But time waits for nobody, and it takes one move to put your reputation at stake. The funny thing about this is that we have seen this movie before between Liverpool and Manchester City.

What Do The Reports Say?

According to the reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Liverpool wants to ensure that De Bruyne fulfills his childhood dream of playing at Anfield in red colors. The Belgian midfielder has never hidden his love affair with Liverpool and has also been a huge admirer of Michael Owen.

The Reds are not the only ones who are interested in acquiring De Bruyne’s services. Aston Villa is another club who are approaching the former Chelsea midfielder. Unai Emery wants to add experience to his midfield for the upcoming season as the Spaniard seeks trophies with the club.

James Milner 2.0

Kevin De Bruyne’s potential move to Liverpool gives me a deja vu feeling. This is because of a certain move that happened a decade ago. When De Bruyne moved from Wolfsburg to Manchester City, another move occurred from the Etihad Stadium to Liverpool. And that was James Milner. The English midfielder moved to Anfield on a free transfer. Although no expectations were placed on the former Aston Villa player, he was a successful player for Liverpool.

For Jürgen Klopp, Milner even played as a left-back for the 2016/17 season. He became one of the most consistent players for the German manager and won a Premier League and a Champions League medal. Now, we are not expecting Slot to deploy De Bruyne as a full-back, but we can expect to see him lifting titles in a side that is already winning trophies. Funnily enough, the Belgian midfielder still has a chance to add to his trophy collection at Manchester City, as the Blues play in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace.
