The Reds returned to Anfield mid-week for the round 4 EFL Cup match against Crystal Palace. Liverpool lost 3-0 to Palace and were eliminated from the competition. The team were missing multiple first-team players, which led to lots of criticism for Arne Slot.

Aston Villa is 8th in the Premier League with 15 points and have a record of four wins, three draws, and two losses. Their last Premier League match was a 1-0 home win over Manchester City.
