Logan Paul Issues Bizarre Challenge to Lionel Messi Over Lawsuit

WWE superstar Logan Paul has publicly challenged soccer legend Lionel Messi to a boxing match, offering to drop their ongoing lawsuit if the Argentine World Champion agrees to fight in 2025.

The American influencer, boxer, and PRIME energy drink co-founder along with fellow internet personality KSI, made the challenge on social media (h/t Happy Punch), escalating the legal battle between his brand and Messi’s MAS+ energy drink.

“Brother, you copied us. Everyone saw it. They saw what you did. Everyone noticed it and then we got sued. Hold on, wait, what? This ain’t justice,” Paul said. “So we countersued, obviously. If you can’t beat the best, you gotta be the best. But that’s illegal. That’s trademark infringement. We’re holding him accountable, and it’s harassment?”

Paul then bizarrely challenged Messi to a boxing match.

"All jokes aside, I will consider [dropping the lawsuit] if (there is a) Logan Paul vs Messi, 2025," Paul said. "I’ll see you in the ring, brother."

The dispute began in Oct. 2024 when PRIME sued MAS+ over alleged trademark infringement, arguing that Messi’s brand copied its packaging.

Messi’s camp responded with a countersuit, accusing PRIME of anti-competitive practices. Paul and his business partner, KSI, then filed another countersuit, further escalating the legal battle.

Paul, who has previously fought legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather and KSI in exhibition bouts, appears eager to settle the dispute in the ring, as ridiculous and improbable as that sounds.

Messi, meanwhile, has never been involved in combat sports and has not responded to the challenge. The Argentine international is still playing soccer at the top level, now for Inter Miami of the MLS in the United States, with whom he will start another regular season on Feb. 22.

Given Messi’s ongoing commitment to his club, his soccer career, and his stature among the greatest of all time in the sport, a boxing match remains highly unlikely to happen in the short and long term.
