London ace backed to make January switch; Tottenham could provide the right stage to shine

Jarrod Bowen tipped to thrive at Tottenham following intense transfer links

Tottenham made strengthening their attack a top priority in the summer, bringing in the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons, and Randal Kolo Muani. The Lilywhites showed real ambition in the transfer market as they looked to build on last season’s Europa League triumph. However, despite those signings, the attacking unit at N17 has yet to fully click, leaving Thomas Frank with a major headache early in the campaign.

With that in mind, Tottenham must now turn their attention to the upcoming January transfer window to bring in additional attacking reinforcements if they are to compete across all fronts this season. Spurs need to be proactive in the market, and securing a top-quality forward for the second half of the campaign should be among their biggest priorities. While there are several issues up front, addressing the No. 9 position remains the most pressing concern.

At present, Thomas Frank has Richarlison and Dominic Solanke competing for the centre-forward role. But it’s fair to say that neither has been entirely convincing during their time in North London. If Spurs are serious about closing the gap on their rivals and pushing for a top-four finish, they need a striker who can deliver consistently.

Tottenham should not give up on landing West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen

Earlier in the summer, Tottenham showed interest in signing West Ham star Jarrod Bowen to help solve their attacking imbalance under Frank. However, the Hammers were quick to reject all approaches, making it clear that the player was not for sale despite strong advances from Spurs.

Even so, the North London club have reportedly reignited their interest in Bowen, having made contact with West Ham earlier this month. The Stratford-based side have maintained that they would only consider selling their talisman if a January offer came in that was simply too good to refuse. That stance has given Tottenham fans renewed hope that the 28-year-old could be lured to N17 in the coming months.

Adding to the speculation, journalist Alex Crook suggested that Bowen himself might be open to a move in order to keep his World Cup hopes alive. Speaking on talkSPORT, Crook said,

“I don’t think it’s too outlandish to say that playing at West Ham is going to harm his chances of a place on the plane at the World Cup. I think if he was at Tottenham or Liverpool, and playing well, I think he’d have much more opportunity of forcing his way into Thomas Tuchel’s plans.”

West Ham’s disastrous start to the new season has put Jarrod Bowen’s World Cup selection in further jeopardy. The 28-year-old is clearly a big fish in a small pond at the London Stadium, and Crook believes that his chances of getting on the plane to USA will increase if he moves to Tottenham in the coming months. With the Lilywhites also looking to add more attacking players in the winter, a move for the Englishman becomes a realistic possibility.

Signing a player of Bowen’s calibre should be a no-brainer for Tottenham. His numbers speak for themselves, and it is fair to say that he is one of the best attackers in the Premier League right now. His efficiency in front of goal is there for all to see, and he thrives in transitions as well. The only stumbling block in a potential deal is that he is tied down to a long-term contract at West Ham, giving the Hammers an upper hand in any negotiations for their star player in the coming months.
