Luis Suarez's Inter Miami Future Takes Unexpected U-Turn

The 2025 MLS Cup Final saw Inter Miami win their first Championship in its history. Despite the win, Inter Miami will look very different next year with Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba retiring and rumors of new players joining.

One player whose future at the club is uncertain is Luis Suarez, who played the majority of the season as the main striker but lost his spot in the starting lineup for the MLS playoffs.

Suarez did not play in the MLS Cup final against the Vancouver Whitecaps, sparking more rumors that he will no longer play for the club next year. His contract is up at the end of this year.

Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas insisted that he wants to see Suarez play for the club for another year and is open to renewing his contract. Mas said, "If Luis decides to play another year, I would love to see Luis continue. Obviously, then the conversations would be as to how Luis Suarez returns (within the salary budget)."

Only a day later, Suarez is now linked to a move away from Inter Miami to play in Uruguay for his former club, Uruguayan club Nacional.

Will Luis Suarez Leave Inter Miami?

Germán García Grova of TYC Sports reports that Luis Suarez is specifically studying the possibility of returning to Nacional next year and could make a decision in the next few days.

New reports indicate that Suarez has reportedly registered his children in a school in Uruguay, which increases his chances for a return to Nacional.

Suarez played for Nacional on two different occasions. The Uruguayan striker made his professional debut in the 2005-06 season with Nacional and then returned to the club in 2022 after two seasons with Atletico Madrid.
