With Donnarumma set to leave, the next question is where the Italian goalkeeper will continue his career. In his latest column for PSG Talk, journalist Robin Bairner explored potential destinations, including Manchester City.

“Manchester City’s interest in Donnarumma may come as something of a surprise after they re-signed James Trafford from Burnley at great expense just a couple of weeks ago, yet PSG expected interest from the Premier League side,” Bairner wrote. “Pep Guardiola has thrown some curveballs in his approach at the Etihad in recent seasons, but signing Donnarumma would perhaps be the biggest of these.

“For all the Italian’s strengths, playing with the ball at his feet is not one of them. And yet the Catalan usually is so dogmatic about this quality for his goalkeepers. Purely for this reason, it’s hard to be totally convinced that this is a move that will materialize.

“And yet, City are pressing forward, with some sources even suggesting that personal terms have been agreed. They certainly have the means to get it done, and it appears they also have the desire. On top of this, they have the type of clout that Donnarumma is seeking from his next team. It seems to hinge on them offloading Ederson.”
