Manchester City host Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium today, Sunday, at 2:00 p.m. local time (9:00 a.m. ET in the USA) in Matchweek 1 of the 2026–27 Premier League season.
This game starts a new chapter for both clubs, with Enzo Maresca taking charge of his first Premier League match as Manchester City manager following Pep Guardiola’s departure, and Marco Rose begin his Bournemouth tenure after Andoni Iraola moved to Liverpool.
Bournemouth also enter this campaign after a historic sixth-place finish last season secured European football.
City have dominated this fixture at home, winning all nine of their previous Premier League meetings with Bournemouth at the Etihad by an aggregate score of 34-6.
Maresca has an early attacking concern with Jérémy Doku ruled out for up to three weeks with a calf injury. Club-record signing ($150m) Elliot Anderson should make his competitive City debut in midfield.
Rose faces a much longer list of absentees for his first Premier League match. Ryan Christie is suspended, while Éli Junior Kroupi is recovering from foot surgery and Amine Adli is sidelined with a calf injury. New signing António Silvais should make his Premier League debut today.
Manchester City have several selection changes beyond their injury list. Savinho and Omar Marmoush are not being considered as they close in on permanent moves to Tottenham.
With the departures creating vacancies in attack, Jack Grealish is also in contention for a recall on the left after his return from a season-long loan at Everton and a recovery from a foot injury. Maresca has meanwhile addressed Rodri’s move to Barcelona, admitting it was difficult to convince the midfielder to remain at City once he had decided to seek a new challenge.
Bournemouth have António Silva, Juanlu Sánchez and Álvaro Rodríguez registered and eligible to make their competitive debuts.
