Manchester United have started unveiling their plans for next season, with excitement already building around both the squad and the club’s new look ahead of a return to Champions League football.

The summer is expected to bring several changes at Old Trafford, but supporters have now had their first official look at what the team will wear during the 2026/27 campaign.

The release comes as adidas continues to lean into the club’s history, drawing from one of United’s most memorable eras.

New home kit officially revealed

Manchester United and Adidas have officially launched the club’s home kit for the 2026/27 season, as revealed on United’s website.

The design takes inspiration from the iconic kits worn during the 1970s and brings back several retro features that have been absent from recent releases.

A classic red base remains at the centre of the shirt, while the return of the polo collar gives it a more traditional feel.

Striped sleeve cuffs have also been included, helping recreate the look associated with one of the club’s historic domestic triumphs.

The shirt pays tribute to the strip worn during Manchester United’s 1977 Domestic Cup triumph.

That connection is significant, with 2026 marking 50 years since the club’s success in that competition.

White adidas stripes run along the shoulders, while black accents have been added throughout the design to preserve United’s familiar colour identity.

One of the key details is the “United” sign-off placed at the back of the neck, serving as a subtle nod to the club’s heritage.

The kit was officially released today, ending weeks of online leaks and speculation.

Excitement around the shirt had already grown after popular United supporter and influencer Therese Gudmundsen shared photos of promotional banners outside Old Trafford a day before the official launch.

The banners displayed the new design in full, giving fans an early glimpse before the club announcement.

The release also comes as United prepare to introduce a major first next season.

For the first time in club history, Manchester United are expected to use a match-worn fourth kit during the 2026/27 campaign.

That addition will expand the club’s traditional three-kit rotation and could be used in selected domestic or European cup fixtures.

With a historic design already launched and another kit still to come, United’s 2026/27 campaign is starting to take shape both on and off the pitch.
