It’s going to be interesting to see whether some of Manchester United’s best prospects manage to seriously break through in the next few years.
Tyler Fletcher is one player with a seemingly high ceiling. The 19-year-old made Scotland’s 26-man World Cup squad in North America after making just a couple of first-team appearances for Manchester United.
Fletcher was reportedly seen as unsellable by the club in the summer.
Another prospect is JJ Gabriel, already an outstanding youngster at just 15 years old. The exciting player scored a hat-trick in midweek on his UEFA Youth League debut for the Red Devils’ Under-19s side against Sabah FK.
Gabriel is on course to become Manchester United’s youngest ever player in a competitive match, after already breaking the record in a friendly match during pre-season.
According to Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel, United are in “shock” at how good JJ Gabriel really is. “It’s going to be important to see how Manchester United manage JJ in terms of involving him in the first team in official games,” the Italian journalist acknowledged.
“That’s going to be an important topic because everyone at Manchester United, when they speak about JJ Gabriel, is in total shock at how good this boy is. So obviously, his pathway is going to be absolutely important in order to understand more about JJ.”
It’s no real surprise – it’s unheard of seeing a player with so much hype at such a young age.
For the good of JJ Gabriel’s career, it will be important to give him time and not set too high an expectation of him, for lot’s can happen before his career really gets going, but the potential he holds is clearly sky-high.
United will have an internal idea over when they plan to add JJ Gabriel to their first team set-up. Whenever that is, it’s sure to be an exciting time.
