Manchester United put £30m valuation on a player they are not keen to sell

Manchester United have revealed a transfer valuation for Andre Onana, despite their preference to keep the Cameroonian goalkeeper this summer. Onana has endured the spotlight for all the wrong reasons in the last two seasons at United amid his struggles.

The 29-year-old’s poor performances have cost the Red Devils many points in the last two seasons and the cup competitions. However, Ruben Amorim intends to keep the Cameroon international this summer due to his preference to strengthen other areas first.

United are facing a big squad overhaul to help Amorim recruit players who suit his unique tactical style of play. The senior squad that Amorim inherited from Erik ten Hag has endured a torrid time in understanding their tactical roles.

With so many changes to make and a limited budget, United are not ready to sell Onana for a loss. The Red Devils signed the 29-year-old goalkeeper under Ten Hag from Inter Milan for £47.2m in the summer of 2023.

Onana replaced the legendary goalkeeper David De Gea, as fans anticipated the continuation of the club’s goalkeeping fortune for decades. De Gea etched his name in the club’s history after succeeding another legend in Dutch goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.

However, Onana failed to continue that tradition, but the recent report covered by us suggests United will keep the goalkeeper. According to the Daily Mail, United have put a transfer valuation of around £30m for Onana amid interest in him.

We All Follow United covered one of those interests from AS Monaco earlier this summer, but the valuations stopped them. Meanwhile, Saudi Pro League side SC Neom also preferred Onana as their signing until they shifted their attention and signed Nice goalkeeper Marcin Bulka.

There is a good chance that the Red Devils are putting out the transfer valuation to see if there is any interested party. If United could pull a quick deal for Onana, they have ample amount of time to secure a worthy replacement or perhaps a much-needed upgrade.
