Higher ups at Man United continue to evaluate the future of Casemiro, whose current deal with the club in the summer of 2026. The club remains open to extending a deal for the five-time Champions League winner, but with the condition that he takes a pay cut, which means he would earn less than his £375,000-a-week present deal.
That is as per Daily Mail. The club holds an option to prolong his current agreement by one year, extending it to June 2027. Casemiro remains a pivotal figure in the midfield, offering stability and leadership during a period of flux. His recent form has been encouraging, with starts in four of the first five Premier League fixtures this season.
Since arriving at Old Trafford, Casemiro has amassed 83 Premier League appearances and seven goals, contributing significantly to the conquest of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup. Even though he can get shaky at times, he provides a constant strong presence in the middle of the park more often than not for the Red Devils, and the manager believes he might have one more season of the top-flight in him.
Uncertainties surround Kobbie Mainoo’s trajectory and Manuel Ugarte’s adaptation render Casemiro’s retention essential for interim continuity. Amorim, facing scrutiny after a challenging start that has seen United concede 11 goals in seven matches, relies on Casemiro’s tactical acumen to implement his high-intensity framework.
Recent international duties with Brazil, where he featured for 90 minutes in a 5-0 win over South Korea and a 3-2 defeat to Japan, may temper his readiness for the upcoming clash with Liverpool at Anfield. That would be one interesting watch because of how poor Liverpool have been this season.
While it remains imperative that we replace the midfielder in the long-term, this saga can only end with what United think is more important for the club in the next six months. If Amorim and Co. can agree with Case and team on a pay cut, nothing like it. If not, we all know Casemiro will remain a top-class professional and commit to his contract with 100% on the pitch every time.
Having said that, if they cannot agree, the club may resort to loans or a permanent sale, but that would drain experience when unity is crucial.
