Manchester United set to receive €80m

Over the last few years, Manchester United have been working hard to reduce their financial struggles, with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe taking the reins of the operation.

Strict cost-cutting and extra revenue streams, including mass redundancies and pre-season and post-season tours have ultimately seen United get by despite no European football.

Missing out on the Champions League by losing the Europa League final saw them miss out on an extra £100 million in revenue, whilst the Europa League would have brought in £40 million.

However, a real area the club have struggled with is offloading players for anything like they bought them for.

Jadon Sancho is a perfect example, having been bought from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million and is now set to leave Old Trafford for free at the end of his contract.

Last summer, despite spending over £200 million on signings, only £60 million was generated through the sales for Alejandro Garnacho for £40 million and Antony for £20 million, when he cost £90.9 million to join from Ajax.

Now though, Manchester United are hoping for a better summer.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Manchester United are preparing to earn around £70 million just on the sales of Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund.

The pair have gone out on loan to Barcelona and Napoli respectively, thriving away from Old Trafford, looking to make their temporary moves permanent.

For Rashford, the attacker has scored 10 goals and grabbed 13 assists in 36 games, whilst Hojlund has 13 goals and four assists in 34 games.

As such, United are counting on both clubs triggering their buy clauses that were agreed as part of the loans.

Barcelona are understood to be keen on keeping Rashford, with talks around the £26 million deal already in advanced stages.

For Hojlund, Napoli have already paid a £5 million fee, with United being confident the £38 million buy clause will be activated.

This sum will be vital for United who still owe £422 million on previous transfers, so the £70 million, plus a potential £100 million from Champions League football will go a long way to clear some of the debt.
