Manchester United host to Tottenham Hotspur at 12:30. We provide you with the latest Manchester United team news and the predicted lineup based on availability and any comments made by manager, Michael Carrick.
Manchester United will look to continue the momentum of last week’s epic late winner against Fulham and extend their winning run to four straight. Spurs will enter the fixture without a win in their last six in the Premier League and are yet to record three points this calendar year in the league. With that being said, Thomas Frank’s men showed a lot of heart last weekend, coming from 2-0 down to draw with Manchester City.
Since Michael Carrick has taken the helm at Old Trafford, he’s only made one change to his starting XI. Senne Lammens has cemented himself as United’s number one, and a consistent back four of Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw have been picked by the manager.
Casemiro has found good form under Carrick and has been partnered with the returning Kobbie Mainoo. The Brazilian recorded a goal and an assist against Fulham, and he’ll be looking to carry that form into this weekend’s fixture.
Bruno Fernandes has in good form since returning to the #10 position and is hunting down an elite Premier League record.
Bryan Mbuemo and Amad Diallo have started every game under United’s new interim manager. Patrick Dorgu was in sensational form, especially against Arsenal in Carrick’s second game, however, an injury will keep him out for a number of weeks. Against Fulham, Dorgu was replaced by Matheus Cunha, who himself has been in a rich vein of form.
The manager spoke to the media on Thursday afternoon ahead of Saturday’s clash.
Despite a lot of excitement around young talent, JJ Gabriel, training with the first team this week, Premier League rules state that the 15-year-old cannot feature for Manchester United this season. Fellow youngesters Yuel Helafu, Jack Fletcher, Tyler Fletcher, and Jack Moorhouse also trained with the first team this week.
As we already knew, Dorgu remains out of action with the injury sustained against Arsenal. Mason Mount missed the Fulham fixture with a knock he suffered in training. The injury appears to be worse than first expected. Steven Railston reported that Mount missed Wednesday’s training at Carrington and Carrick confirmed this, although he did note that he could possibly feature against Spurs, but if not, he could be available on Tuesday for the Red Devils’ trip to West Ham.
Dutch centre-back Matthijs de Ligt remains sidelined with an injury.
