Manchester United entered the 2025 summer transfer window under pressure to strengthen their attack, and the club responded decisively. United signed Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko. The hierarchy backed Ruben Amorim with signings who can address the lack of goals in the 2024/25 season.
Cunha’s creativity, Mbeumo’s proven Premier League quality, and Sesko’s aerial strength and finishing brought variety and energy to the squad. At the same time, the club struggled in defence, as Everton refused to let Jarrad Branthwaite join Manchester United, which forced United to rethink their plans. Still, fans believe the attacking changes will inject much-needed excitement, even if United have still failed to solve their defensive woes.
Even after such a heavy investment, reports have linked Manchester United with Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic. Transfer insider Dean Jones revealed to TEAMtalk that, despite regular links, Old Trafford has shown no meaningful progress in signing the Serbian striker. Instead, Chelsea and Tottenham have already asked about the 25-year-old, while West Ham explored the opportunity, and Newcastle United remain in the loop.
Juventus face mounting pressure, as his contract expires next summer, and he might leave for free. Although Newcastle United recently strengthened their attack with Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade, sources suggest they may still consider Vlahovic, but only at the end of the season. The report reveals how multiple Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on a free signing of a quality striker.
“Manchester United continue to be linked, but, according to sources, there has been no meaningful progress from Old Trafford.
“Chelsea and Tottenham have both made enquiries, while West Ham are also understood to have explored the possibility. Newcastle, however, are one of the clubs being kept in the loop.
“Despite bolstering their attack with the additions of Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade, sources suggest they would not rule out moving for a player of Vlahovic’s calibre – though any serious push is more likely to come at the end of the season when he becomes a free agent.
“For now, Juventus face renewed pressure to either find agreement on fresh terms or prepare for one of their star assets to depart without a fee.”
We can see both sides of the argument, considering the club’s recent spending. United reportedly had the chance to sign Vlahovic before choosing Sesko. However, choosing the Slovenian shows the club’s confidence in the younger forward’s long-term development. Sesko’s early months should not define him, and the club must show patience if they want to shape him into their leading striker.
On top of that, Vlahovic’s financial demands remain steep. There are talks of a large signing bonus and wages that could disrupt the new structure United want to impose. That makes him less of a priority, especially as Amorim focuses on balance across the squad. Yet, the interest from Chelsea, Tottenham, and Newcastle reflects his stature. It is clear why every club wants him.
Vlahovic’s Serie A record and physical traits could translate effectively to the Premier League. A free transfer would make him tempting if United look for another forward. However, it depends on how Sesko adapts and whether Joshua Zirkzee leaves, because if he does, United could look at the Serbian striker as a potential option. For now, though, Amorim has enough firepower, and the club should spend their energy to strengthen the midfield, especially as Manchester United want to sign Oihan Sancet but face competition from Arsenal and Tottenham.
