The January transfer window has already seen plenty of movement across Europe, with clubs keen to strengthen their squads ahead of the final stretch of the season.
Premier League sides, in particular, have been scanning La Liga for emerging talent, keeping a close eye on players who could provide depth in midfield.
Manchester United have reportedly been tracking several Spanish prospects.
Barcelona, meanwhile, have been juggling the integration of their academy graduates with the pressure to compete at the top level domestically and in Europe.
Amid all the speculation, one young Blaugrana star has chosen to address the swirling rumours directly.
Marc Casado has moved to put an end to talk linking him with Atletico Madrid and Manchester United, reaffirming his commitment to Barcelona.
Marc Casado, who came through La Masia and broke into the first team in 2022, has made 61 appearances across all competitions and has collected four trophies, including last season’s La Liga title.
Despite this success, the 22-year-old has often found himself competing with Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Gavi, and Dani Olmo for minutes, which has prompted some speculation about his future.
Recent reports suggested Atletico were eyeing Casado as a long-term replacement for Conor Gallagher, while Manchester United and Wolves were said to be monitoring the midfielder’s progress.
However, Casado has been unequivocal in shutting down any talk of a potential exit from Camp Nou.
Speaking after playing the full 90 minutes in Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Real Oviedo, he said: ‘Wearing this shirt [Barcelona] will always be my priority.’
He added, ‘It’s a dream I’ve had since I was a child and I hope it stays that way for many years.’
Casado also highlighted his determination to make the most of his opportunities: ‘I’m going to make the most of every minute I get.’
The message is clear: while Premier League clubs and Spanish rivals may be interested, Casado is focused entirely on continuing his development at Barcelona.
