Marcus Rashford has seen the start of a return to form with Barcelona since joining the reigning La Liga champions on loan last summer.

This season has seen the Manchester United attacker score 12 goals and grab 13 assists in 44 games for the Spanish giants, helping them lead the La Liga, pulling ahead of Real Madrid.

With 82 points and Madrid in second place with 73, Barca sit nine points ahead of their rivals with only six games left to launch an attack on the title.

While the La Liga crown is as good as Barcelona’s, there is still work to do by Hansi Flick’s men, with Marcus Rashford handed a major chance to prove his worth even further.

On Wednesday night, Barcelona beat Celta Vigo 1-0 thanks to a penalty goal from Lamine Yamal.

However, after scoring in the 40th minute, the talented winger was taken off on the brink of half-time due to injury.

Lamine Yamal injury opens door for Marcus Rashford

Since then, tests have confirmed that Yamal suffered a hamstring injury, ending his season at Camp Nou.

Now Yamal is set to be in the Barca treatment room with fellow winger Raphinha, limiting Hansi Flick’s options

As such, Marcus Rashford has the opportunity to step up and fill Yamal’s boots by helping Barca seal the La Liga title.

The Spanish side have the option to make his move permanent for only £26 million, something Rashford is well known to view as a dream move.

However, over recent weeks, Barca have been looking at alternate options to signing the United attacker who’s wages are a real concern for the club who have struggled with financial issues for the last few season.

Barcelona have struggled to register players like Dani Olmo and even Marcus Rashford himself after signing them due to their financial struggles, only just managing to confirm the players with La Liga.

As such, the move, while possible, is yet to be seen as a done deal despite the Barca hierarchy having met with Rashford’s agent.

Now, Rashford has a really clear chance, with six games left and two key wingers out injured to show why he belongs at Camp Nou.
