Manchester United head into pre-season training without having finalised a single player sale this summer.
Many expected significant changes after a disastrous 2024/25 campaign, but so far, the club have struggled to offload players from Ruben Amorim’s squad.
Marcus Rashford was heavily criticised by Amorim last season before leaving on loan to Aston Villa.
Even though Rashford intended to return for pre-season training at Carrington, the club have decided that he won’t be reporting back on Monday.
He’s one of several players who won’t be joining up with Amorim’s squad, as Ineos continues their efforts to find willing buyers.
Recent reports suggested that Rashford was “ready to give 100%” in Manchester United’s pre-season, prompting speculation about a possible U-turn on his situation.
However, this possibility has not been confirmed. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the British winger has already accepted that he is out of Amorim’s plans.
Romano reported: “New round of talks will start from next week for Marcus Rashford’s future. Rashford has accepted he’s not part of Manchester United and Ruben Amorim’s plans, with options being explored ahead of new chapter.”

The options being explored for Rashford should include opening the door to an unlikely Saudi Arabia transfer, no matter how slim the chances of it happening are. However, that isn’t his first option.
Despite the fact that Barcelona are refusing to meet Manchester United’s asking price, Rashford still wants to join the Spanish club.
In order to fund incomings, Ineos want cash up front for Rashford and so far, Barcelona haven’t been able to offer that.
On the other hand, to be able to afford Rashford, Barcelona will need to offload a few fringe players, add more revenue, and rely on Manchester United to lower their asking price.
