Mason Greenwood transfer held up by Manchester United

Mason Greenwood is close to taking the next step in his promising career as he attempts to build success away from Manchester United.

The Englishman, who came through the Red Devils academy, has played for Marseille in the last two seasons, making 81 appearances and scoring 48 goals. Greenwood has also provided 16 assists in his time at the French club.

Prior to that, in his first move away from Old Trafford, the 24-year-old made 36 appearances for Getafe, scoring ten goals and providing six assists.

In recent months, speculation around Greenwood’s next club has been rife with reports linking the winger with several different clubs in a variety of varying countries.

Fenerbahce have emerged as the leading candidate in the race for Greenwood, though, with the Englishman agreeing a move to the Turkish club.

Key stages still have to be completed prior to the move being done, however, given the number of interested parties that are involved in the deal.

Journalist Sercan Hamzaoglu has now provided an update on the situation, outlining the key stages that must be completed before Mason Greenwood completes his transfer.

Hamzaoglu has stated, via X, that the official signatures between Fenerbahce and Marseille have been signed whilst Getafe have stamped their approval on the deal. Manchester United have also gave their signature for the first stage.

The Red Devils still need to sign the final official document which states that the club will not exercise their first right of refusal, though, which is currently holding the deal up.

The journalist states that Greenwood’s move is just a matter of time although is in Manchester United’s hands as the interested parties in this deal await the final seal of approval.

Mason Greenwood’s move to Fenerbahce now appears inevitable but is still not done, yet.
