Manager of Ligue 1 club Marseille, Habib Beye, is under pressure, after poor results in his first nine games at the club and speculation over his long-term future.

The Senegalese head coach manages former Manchester United winger Mason Greenwood, but may not be for long, with the club slipping out of Champions League contention.

The manager of Marseille was reportedly offered to fellow French side Paris FC, making an already wavering situation worse.

Habib Beye offered to Paris

Marseille boss Habib Beye, who was won just four of nine games in charge of sixth-placed Marseille, was offered to Paris FC behind the scenes, despite just arriving at the club, leading to questions around his long-term aspirations, according to FootMercato.

Further questions around Beye’s future and the team led to the Sporting Director of Marseille, Medhi Benatia, speaking out against the players earlier in April, saying, “I wasn’t planning on speaking until the end of the season, because we talked too much the first six months.

“As I explained to the players, when you are here you always have a sense of responsibility. I have no problem being told that I brought a coach back on a project that was supposed to stay longer but left, no problem.

“To be told that the players I brought back who were very good in September and who today are very bad, no problem. That I brought back a new coach who isn’t good either, I accept it… But when I see the matches we’re playing today, even if I don’t want to talk, I have to come to the press.”

It’s proving to be a very tricky spell for the club, who are drifting away from UCL contention.

Mason Greenwood and Marseille’s struggles

With the tough situation at Marseille, former United winger Mason Greenwood has just four goal involvements in the last two months.

He, too, is receiving interest from the up-and-coming Paris FC, who are reportedly preparing a bid ahead of the summer.

It’s a difficult period for the French club, but they will not want to lose such an influential player, after the departure of manager Roberto De Zerbi earlier in the season, too.
