The future of Mason Greenwood at Marseille has been the subject of significant speculation in recent weeks.

However, the Ligue 1 club have now confirmed a major change ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The former Manchester United forward has enjoyed an impressive spell in France since leaving Old Trafford.

He has scored 48 goals in 81 appearances and was recently named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year after another outstanding individual season.

However, uncertainty has surrounded both Greenwood’s future and the wider direction of the club this summer.

Manchester United experienced similar upheaval earlier this year when Ruben Amorim was dismissed in January after just 14 months in charge at Old Trafford.

That highlighted how quickly situations can change at the highest level of football.

Now, Marseille have officially confirmed a significant decision regarding their coaching setup.

Mason Greenwood set to work under new manager

Marseille announced on their official club website on Monday evening that they have ended their collaboration with head coach Habib Beye.

In a brief statement, the French club thanked Beye for his work and wished him the very best for the future.

The statement read: “Olympique de Marseille announces it is ending its collaboration with Habib Beye. The Club thanks Habib Beye and sends him its best wishes for the rest of his career.”

Beye only took charge of Marseille earlier this year.

He oversaw a period in which Mason Greenwood continued to establish himself as one of Ligue 1’s most dangerous attacking players.

The managerial change comes at a particularly intriguing time given the uncertainty surrounding Greenwood’s own future.

Recent reports have suggested that the 24-year-old could leave Marseille this summer, with clubs from across Europe monitoring his situation.

Greenwood has rebuilt his career impressively since departing Manchester United in 2024.

He has become of Marseille’s most influential players and a fan favourite at the Stade Velodrome.

Marseille must now begin the search for a new manager, while Greenwood waits to discover whether he will remain at the club or embark on another new challenge before the start of the 2026/27 season.
