For the first time ever, Lionel Messi will play in Minnesota when the Loons host Messi's Inter Miami on May 10, 2025. It will be Inter Miami's first trip to Allianz Field since joining MLS in 2020. The two sides have played only once before, a 2-1 Inter Miami win in June 2022.
Widely considered one of the greatest players of all time, Messi joined MLS' Inter Miami in the summer of 2023. Since joining the league, Messi has scored 21 goals and registered 13 assists in regular season play, winning the 2024 Landon Donavan MLS MVP award.
Minnesota United announced its 2025 regular season schedule Thursday, revealing the exciting news of Messi coming to St. Paul in May.
The Loons will open the season in Los Angeles, taking on LAFC on Feb. 22, 2025.
Minnesota's first home game will take place on Saturday, March 1, when they host CF Montreal. MNUFC will host rival Sporting KC on Oct. 4 for the final home game of the season.
The Loons' first crack at revenge after being knocked out of this season's MLS Cup Playoffs will come at home against LA Galaxy on March 22.
Minnesota then closes out the regular season against the Galaxy in Las Angeles on Saturday, Oct. 18.
