Junior Messias has revealed that he ‘felt like crying’ after he scored the winner for AC Milan against Atletico Madrid last night.

Messias got himself back to full fitness, and he made an incredible impact off the bench against Atleti, scoring the winning goal with less than five minutes on the clock. Three years ago he was in the fourth tier delivering refrigerators and other household appliances, and now he is a Champions League match-winner for Milan.

Messias spoke to Milan TV after the game and reflected on his emotions, as his journey took yet another incredible step.

“I am very happy especially for the victory. In addition to my goal and my debut, which came in time of need. I was coming from a difficult time, I had two injuries in a row. Today it was important to win, we are still alive and we have to fight until the end,” he said (via MilanNews).

“I felt like crying, I experienced pure emotion that went through my head. I thought of God, my whole history is written by him.”

Against Liverpool, what do you expect? “We have to remain humble, it will be difficult. We must do what we did today, we must remain humble and play our game like today, we did very well from the first to the last minute.”

Was it the best night of your career? “It was the most beautiful, I hope other evenings like this come.”
