Reports in Italy claim that Milan will be in contact with Real Madrid in the coming hours to discuss the availability of left-back Fran Garcia, whom the Rossoneri see as a potential replacement for Theo Hernandez.
Milan are actively seeking a new left-back to replace Theo, who left the club after six seasons to join Simone Inzaghi’s Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League earlier this transfer window.
So short on options at left-back are Milan, that reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport earlier this week claimed that Massimiliano Allegri is considering deploying central midfielder Tommaso Pobega, who spent the 2024-25 season on loan with Bologna, in that role in pre-season.
According to reports from Matteo Moretto and Calciomercato.com, Real Madrid’s Fran Garcia has been identified as a potential option to replace Theo Hernandez at left-back. Moretto, via Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, claims that the Rossoneri have already requested information over a potential deal.
The 25-year-old has played an increasingly prominent role for Los Blancos over the past two seasons, particularly in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign, when he started in 16 out of 20 LaLiga matches from January onwards.
Having just bought Alvaro Carreras from Benfica, and with Ferland Mendy still on the club’s books, Milan are confident that Fran Garcia will be surplus to requirements in Madrid for the 2025-26 season.
Calciomercato claims that the player is keen on the idea of a move to Milan as well, as he sees more starting opportunities in San Siro than he does at the Bernabeu.
Tuesday’s report, however, also adds that Madrid are reluctant to let Fran Garcia leave, even after the signing of Alvaro Carreras.
According to Calciomercato, there have been no in-depth discussions as things stand, but Milan are expected to open formal talks with Madrid in the coming hours.
